Professional Experiences
2015: Lecturer. Department of Civil Engineering, Monash University, Australia.
2014-2015: Postdoctoral Researcher. EPFL & Cavendish Laboratory, University of Cambridge.
2010-2013: Research Assistant. Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology in Lausanne.
2009-2010: Research Assistant. The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, China.
Research Experiences
My research focuses on rock mechanics and rock engineering, especially on experimental and theoretical studies of dynamic mechanical behaviour of rock materials and its engineering applications. I have extensive experiences in performing geomechanical model testing, numerical simulation and in-situ investigation to study the stability of underground hydro-power stations and earthquake fault. My research area also includes the study on shock behaviour of rock materials at high pressure up to 20 GPa that is relevant to mining blasting situations.

2014: Endeavour Research Fellow. Department of Civil Engineering, Monash University, Australia.
2011-2014: Research Fellow. Nanyang Technological University.
2010-2011: Research Associate. Nanyang Technological University.
Research Experiences
My research has been focused on the developing mathematical models and their corresponding computerization with numerical analysis for pratical geomechanics, especially on rock mechanics and rock engineering problems. In particular, I am quite experienced in the numerical modelling of progressive failure processes, and mechanical behaviours of fractured porous media (e.g., rock masses) by utilizing hybrid FEM/DEM methods (e.g., NMM, NDDA, PMM). Another important application area of my research is on rock structure stability analysis (such as design, performance analysis, and safety assessment on rock cavern/tunnel/slope).
